Alaska Family Directory
Welcome to the Alaska Family Directory. Your Link to Special Education in Alaska.
This Web site is funded by a grant from the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development and maintained by the Anchorage School District’s STEP Center. Included are calendars of events and educational opportunities for parents, educators as well as community organizations that provide assistance to families of children with special needs in specific geographic regions of Alaska. It is also the home of AK Connect, Alaska’s statewide disability newsletter. |

AK Connect Newsletter
Distributed monthly during the school year, this newsletter provides a statewide connection for parents, students, educators and others who support individuals with disabilities. AK Connect highlights a different school district each month. It also features information on fetal alcohol syndrome, autism, traumatic brain injury and other important information related to various disabilities. An invaluable resource is the regional calendars that give specific information on events throughout the state.
Regional Information
This section includes calendars of educational opportunities and supports for parents, educators and people with disabilities that are specific to a region of Alaska. Included in each regional section is a listing of community organizations that provide assistance to families of children with special needs in that specific area. Regional information is organized according to the areas on the map. There is also a calendar just for upcoming conferences in and out of state.
To get to your community's information, either click on the map on the region where you live or go to the right hand side and find your region. Not sure what region your community is located in? Use our Alphabetical Listing of
