The bottom line

As a steward of public resources, ASD is committed to efficient and effective use of its funds. Only through sensible, responsible, open budgeting can we maintain financial accountability. s

Public accountability

Community members, parents and staff are encouraged to express their views on the annual budget development process. These suggestions add valuable contributions to the district's decision-making process.

Additionally, the school board conducts public hearings in January during which the budget recommendations are discussed in detail. Public testimony at these meetings is beneficial and strongly encouraged.

The district's budget is made up of four funds:

Fund Name 2005-2006

Local/State/Federal Projects Fund $48 million
  grants for specific programs
Total $572.2 million
