New preschool program opening at Airport Heights

ASD will open a Title I preschool classroom at Airport Heights Elementary School. The program is slated to open on Oct 24. Transportation to this preschool program is only available to students within the Airport Heights boundary. Please fill out an application to be considered for the preschool program at Airport Heights.



General education neighborhod preschool applications

The preschool application process is now open. To apply, complete the following application form and drop it off at the school to which you are applying, or fax it to Title I at 742-4482.


Preschool programs help young children learn the skills and knowledge they need to enter school ready to achieve and excel at learning. Preschool programs are federally funded and not available at every school.

Types of preschool programs

The Anchorage School District provides Title I, Kids’ Corps Inc. (KCI) Head Start, Migrant and Special Education preschool classrooms in the schools listed below. Please call the school to determine if your student is eligible. Download the preschool program flier for more information..


ASD preschool sites

Children must be four years old by September 1 to participate in ASD preschool programs. Contact the ASD Title I program at 907-742-3835 or Kids Corps/Head Start at 907-272-0133 for details.



Other programs

Migrant-eligible students

Denali Montessori and Wonder Park Elementary pre-kindergarten programs are available only to Migrant-eligible students. Contact the ASD Migrant Education Department at 907-742-4275 for more information.


Special Education

The Preschool Special Education Program provides services for children ages 3 to 5 who experience developmental delays or other disabilities. Contact the ASD Special Education Department at 907-742-6021 for more information.


Early Intervention Services Center

EISC offers free developmental screenings for children ages 3-5 years in the following areas: motor skills, concepts, communication, self-help, social skills and health. Visit the EISC website or call 907-742-2657 for more information.
