There is Hope. Every action taken has meaning; every action makes a difference, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant |

There is a difference between program and systems thinking. For example, changing negative student behavior in the short term will require different actions than if you want your district to become an asset-building community. These are two separate processes with different strategies and outcomes. |

Take time to plow and re-plow the field. Train others redundantly (administrators, teachers, students, parents, community members) in the Asset Framework. Allow people time to think, digest and make applications. Encourage others to share the message too. Credibility is gained when others hear the same message from a variety of people or sources. Trust that others will make appropriate application in their own milieu. |

Don’t be too attached to particular objectives. Stay flexible and keep the long-term goal in mind. Trust the process. Look for opportunities to act. Help others fulfill their vision. Partner with anyone you can and don’t be surprised when your dreams are exceeded by reality. |

It really is all about relationships. Change happens one person at a time. Never underestimate the importance of building relationships and alliances with adults and students. Empowerment applies to both adults and students |
