Health Services/Nursing
The Anchorage School District Health Services Program employs over 100 nurses to meet the growing health needs of today's students and staff.
Health Services strives to provide accessible, quality health and nursing care for every child. School nursing services include:
-
Identification and follow-up of health problems
-
Crisis intervention for ill and injured students
-
Control of communicable diseases within the school environment
-
Special nursing services such as treatments prescribed by the student's physician which are necessary for the student to attend school
When students enter the school district requiring health related services, school nurses and health treatment nurses provide those services so that the student can access and benefit from the education program.
