Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Any combination of educational experience equivalent to graduation from High School.
- Experience working with school age children (3 through 21)
- Experience with groups of students in an instructional environment.
- Experience or training working with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability and willingness to operate various office machines; to work with people of all ages and abilities in a school setting; to assist with orthopedically disabled students including lifting, repositioning and transferring; to change diapers and assist in toileting; to organize carryout activities with students under the teachers supervision.
- If you are currently on probation you will not be considered for a substitute position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with students hygiene which may include toileting and/or diapering. Work individually or in small groups in areas relative to visual, motor, auditory, communication, mobility training and self-help skills.
- Assist bus attendants with loading and unloading of students; assist arriving and departing students with coats, boots and gloves; assist with supervision of playground activities.
- Work individually or in small groups in academic areas.
- Monitor the class when the teacher leaves the room or when a substitute/guest teacher is on duty.
- Prepare instructional materials under the teachers supervision.
- Enforce appropriate behavior limits and assist with behavior observation under the teachers supervision.
