I am so appreciative of the school business partnerships with our schools. Our students and staff benefit in many ways from our school business partnership programs, and I thank all of you for your efforts and support. On behalf of the Anchorage School Board and myself, I want to thank the volunteer Board of Directors and the Executive Director for their leadership.
In today’s world, it is imperative that our students realize the connection of their education to their future, whatever that may be—college or other post-secondary training, the military, the trades, and many other careers. Our partnerships give our students the opportunities to learn from successful businesses and industry in a meaningful way. Students are mentored by our partners, our schools receive financial and in-kind donations which allow them to enhance their educational programs, our staff have opportunities to learn how what they are teaching relates to various careers and jobs, and most of all, it allows our students to get to know many successful business men and women who contribute so much to our lives and our community.
We have come a long way since our School Business Partnership Program began in 1991. Those who began the program are to be commended for their vision and their willingness to forge the first partnerships. The program is growing and thriving with quality partnerships. Thank you for your service to our youth.

The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce firmly believes that education is an economic driver. A vibrant economy is wholly dependent on a healthy education system and School Business Partnerships is an example of productive relationships between the education and business communities.
School Business Partnerships is enhancing the city’s workforce reaching 49,000 students through nearly 500 partnerships because of the help of more than 1,000 business people. The Anchorage Chamber is proud to have partnered with the Anchorage School District to initiate School Business Partnerships in 1991.
Investing in the training and education of Alaska’s youth will only pay dividends as Alaskan employers are able to hire an educated workforce in years to come. Great things come from mentoring our youth and it is awe-inspiring to watch these relationships grow 18 years strong. Thank you for investing in a strong economy and community. Together, we can continue to grow Anchorage into a Premier American City.
