When a new business partner decides to introduce herself by serving dessert at a faculty meeting, you know the partnership is off to a good start! That’s exactly what Mrs. Tammy Gongliewski, owner of Eagle River Super Suppers, did to kick off her partnership with Chugiak High School.
In two short years, the partnership has become a very active one that truly benefits both parties. Eagle River Super Suppers contributes to Chugiak events with donations of time, fundraisers, discounts, food, and guest presentations. Chugiak students are given the opportunity to tour the Super Suppers facility; one class even learned how to make Thanksgiving side dishes during its visit. These cooking sessions are very popular with students.
Each month, Eagle River Super Suppers hosts The Taste, where community members are invited to sample upcoming menu items for $5. In February, Mrs. Gongliewski invited Chugiak students to the event, where they were allowed to set up fundraising tables for various clubs and activities.
Chugiak High provides several unique marketing opportunities to Super Suppers. Mrs. Gongliewski provided food samples and information about her business at parent conferences, which drew rave reviews. The school advertises the business on its web site and newsletter. Not surprisingly, when Mrs. Gongliewski needs new employees, she often turns to Chugiak students. When she recently advertised an opening in the school bulletin, she had a tough time deciding who to hire because so many excellent candidates were sent her way! She was especially impressed by the number of service hours the Chugiak students donate to their community.
Eagle River Super Suppers may be a small business, but it has shown an exceptional commitment to its partnership with Chugiak High School. The business partner has provided learning opportunities for students and professional enhancement for staff. Thank you, Eagle River Super Suppers, for your willingness to donate to schools and organizations in the community!
