| Purpose: |
A system that: |
|
- will offer opportunities for leadership excellence through professional development,
- will retain excellent veteran staff in a setting where their contributions are valued,
- will expedite the learning of a new job or skill,
- will reduce the stress of transition resulting from a new assignment,
- will improve leadership performance through mentoring by outstanding principals,
- and will promote the socialization of the new principal into the district.
|
| Structure: |
Each first and second year new to ASD Principal, as defined by the ASD/APA negotiated agreement, will be matched with a mentor at the beginning of the school year. Plans would be developed between the new Principal and the Mentor to assist the new Principal in learning goals, State Performance Standards for Administrators, and in establishing meeting times. All communications between the Mentor and the new Principal are confidential, and the Mentoring Program is separate from the evaluation of the new Principal.
