Child in Transition/Homeless (CIT/H) Project

Services

The Child in Transition/Homeless Project offers services to any child, youth or family who is certified as homeless. Services are offered at local shelters, public schools, and community settings. CIT/H can work with families throughout the school year and into the following summer.

Services for children ages 0-5

  • Coordination with ASD and community resources
  • Assistance to access ASD and HeadStart preschools
   

Elementary services (grades K-6)

  • School advocacy
  • Coordination with ASD and community resources
   

Secondary services (grades 7-12)

 
  • Enrollment assistance
  • Transportation
  • Free meals
  • School supplies
  • Small group tutoring
  • Transition classroom
  • Academic and emotional support
  • Referrals

  • Coordination with ASD and community resources
   

Services for ASD staff

 
  • Identify Key Building Contact in each school
  • Staff development and in-service presentations
  • Professional support at Core Team, IEP and other meetings
  • Assistance in coordinating multiple ASD resources
  • Links to community services and resources
