Four years ago, the district undertook an initiative to reinvest in differentiated instructional methods. Response to Instruction - RTI - provides the right type of instruction at the right time to each of our students. This is allowing teachers to tightly tailor their instructional efforts to meet the needs of their students, resulting in measurable improvement in student proficiency. Many grade levels are showing the highest proficiency levels in the last five years. In 2016, RTI efforts are shifting to MTSS – multi-tier system of supports. MTSS is the next step forward from RTI which involves integrating both academic and social/behavioral instruction and intervention to support students at varying intensities (multiple tiers) based on need.
The aspirations and requirements for educating students in today's world are vastly different than they were even a decade ago. In order to ensure we are providing the best education possible to our students, we must have a shared vision with a strategic focus. The district's comprehensive, multi-year plan to increase student achievement outlines where we want to be and provides a roadmap to help us get there. This plan will shape educational opportunities around the community's ever-evolving needs and build upon the momentum of the last several years.
