The mission of our program is to ensure students learning English engage in the full array of educational programs and services offered by ASD. At the core of our ability to do this is a focus on how students acquire academic language in school settings. The English Language Learners program focuses on integrating students’ primary language and cultural background, while maintaining and advancing their developing English skills. In order to do this, we have adapted a diverse set of delivery models so that we can capitalize on the strengths of individual students. These models include sheltered English instruction, English-as-a-second-language, and dual language immersion programs.
