Student Nutrition Breakfast Treat Recipe

You've heard for saying, "breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Studies show that students who eat a well-balanced breakfast perform better at school and do better on standardized tests. March 6-10 is National School Breakfast Week. ASD's Student Nutrition Department shares this healthy breakfast recipe that that's easy to make - and delicious!

Parents can learn how to make this recipe with their children at home by watching this one minute video. Baking provides opportunities to show children a practical application of math and fractions.

While school lunches typically get a bad rap nationally and in Anchorage, the District's Student Nutrition Department is undergoing a number of efforts to improve the flavor and appeal of meals. Approximately 75 percent of menu items this year have been overhauled to improve student experience.

For those who wish to print a hard copy, PDF versions can be found in the Forms & Publications Library on the public side of the district's website. Type "input" in the Name search box to find and print the paper forms. School sites will also have printed copies of the forms for parents and employees who do not have access to a computer. Each school determines a location for the form (most likely the main office).

Web-based Input Forms will be transmitted electronically by Human Resources to the appropriate supervisor. Printed copies will be kept confidential and routed by the school to the immediate supervisor.

If you have questions, contact Sarah Hotchkiss in Human Resources at 742-4010.
