Zangle: New student information program comes to ASD

Zangle is a new computer system that will house virtually all student information, from vaccinations to transcripts, in one unified database. The district's previous system had been used for almost 20 years.

This new system will increase the efficiency of the online warehousing of student records and will provide more information 24 hours a day, seven days a week over the Internet to the parents and educators.

Questions and answers

When can parents log in to Zangle?

ParentConnect, which allows parents to access information about their students online, is now available. Passwords have been issued to middle and high school parents who requested Web access and provided an e-mail address. Contact your student's school if you have not received a password.

Elementary schools will distribute ParentConnect passwords at parent/teacher conferences Oct. 28-29. Parents wanting a password before that date, should contact their child’s school. For security reasons, passwords are not being e-mailed or mailed to parents.”

When will this new system be used?

School staff are already using the system to create new student records and the system is live for the 2009-10 school year.

What does this mean for parents?

By mid-September 2009, parents will be able to use Zangle to view their child’s grades and attendance records at their convenience using an Internet connection. Parents will also be able to contact teachers and staff directly using e-mail to discuss their child’s academics, attendance or other concerns.

What does this mean for students?

System features for students will be implemented in the 2010-11 school year. See the "What's next?" section on this page for more details.

Are student records secure?

Student information will be secure so student data cannot be manipulated.

Parents will be provided with a secure password that will let them view their child’s grades, but not manipulate them.

What's next?

Parent and child at computerMore features will be added over the next two years that will eventually allow parents to register their students online, check on fines and fees, keep track of attendance and update contact information.

A student portal is scheduled to become available for the 2010-11 school year. This online feature will allow students to create their own schedules from available classes and view unofficial transcripts. The system will also allow students to access their most current grades, see what assignments are missing, see results from quizzes and tests, and discuss classwork with their teachers.

How can I learn more?

If you have questions or need help completing the student contact form, contact your child’s school office. A list of school contacts can be found here.
