Mentoring icon1:1 Teacher Mentoring

  • Available to all 1st and 2nd year educators
  • One -to-one mentoring partnership with an experienced AEA/ASD or UGO mentor
  • Non-evaluative and confidential

Extended Mentoring

  • Available to experienced educators with a significant job change (ie. 3 or more grade-level change, new to content/position/department)
  • Up to 20 hours of mentor support with trained AEA/ASD mentor
  • Non-evaluative and confidential

Qualities of a Mentor

  • Interest in professional leadership
  • Willingness to set aside time to be part of a teacher 's development
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Open-minded with a positive perspective about the teaching profession
  • Possess and practice content knowledge and best practice strategies
  • Work well with adults and have genuine concern for others' growth
  • Demonstrate dependability, responsiveness, and responsibility

 

How to Become a Mentor

  • Have 4+ years experience
  • Complete the credit class Mentor Communication Skills
  • Provide references for recommendations
  • Complete an application to be a mentor

Steps to Apply for Observation Time

1. Follow your school procedure for Sub time.
2. Enter in the Emp Center
3. Request a sub in Aesop. (The reason for the sub will be Release Time.)
4. Fill out our form (See the link below). Our AA will provide the code.
