The Section 504 Department monitors the provision of this federal law designed to protect the rights of individuals with physical or mental disabilities in programs and activities that receive federal funds from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) within the academic setting. Our department ensures that each general education student with a disability is provided a "free appropriate public education" (FAPE) through an individualized and formalized educational accommodations plan within our school district’s jurisdiction, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability. FAPE consists of the provision of regular education and related aids and services designed to meet the student's individual needs. Our department also provides information to parents and school staff to facilitate effective problem-solving for the education and promotion of success of our students in life.
